Subha Patel is an organic chemist and director of nature-based fragrances at International Flavors and Fragrances, traveling the world on a search for the next big smell, from black plum to hydroponic celery to fresh red clay. Patel, who grew up on a coffee plantation in Kenya, also oversees the worlds, largest collection of aromatic orchids, among other plants, at IFF's Botanical Gardens in Union Beach, NJ.
