I made this portrait of Doug Nearpass, a puppeteer, from East Rutherford, NJ, for The Star-Ledger series "I am New Jersey." The series profiles people making a difference within the state. Creating this portrait was a lot of fun. I spent about an hour attaching and maneuvering with the strings to make him into a marionette. It's always nice to have a subject willing to go the extra mile.
